Kaohsiung · 哈瑪星

Hamasen

Where Kaohsiung's harbour story begins — and where the Japanese railway ended.

About Hamasen

Hamasen takes its name from the Japanese hamasen (濱線), the coastal railway line that turned a fishing village into a modern port in the 1900s. The tracks are now a lawn, the old station is a museum, and the streets still follow the grid the Japanese laid out.
